The ACS has conferred Honorary Fellowships since their establishment in 1913. Over the 113 years since its founding, this prestigious honor has been awarded to just 539 surgeons, only 21 of whom have been Orthopaedic surgeons.

With Maurice Müller in 2006, Reinhold Ganz in 2022, and now Christian Gerber, this year’s honor once again highlights the profound influence of Swiss Orthopaedics on this specialty and the legacy of the Bernese School and its remarkable contribution to the development of Orthopaedic surgery worldwide.
